Nominator's project description
Professor Allen is an international authority in the study of aqueous surfaces with emphasis on understanding surface structure. Her insights into atmospheric aerosol chemistry and biophysical phenomena have advanced the fundamental understanding of aerosol processing, thundercloud electrification, lung lining and cell permeability. In Germany, Professor Allen focuses on the role of ions in hydration in the bulk and on how these hydration properties impact surface activity and solvation. |
